Artist's Description
The mountain plateau of Yious Kambos in Central Crete in spring. The wild tulips and orchids in this Natura 2000 site are splendid at the right time. There is stil snow on the White Mountains that can be seen in the distance.Vultures breed in the area. The painting shows one Griffon vulture flying back to the gorge where the nesting site is. Other of my paintings of this remarkable area show more of the tulips and orchids as well as other plants but this painting aims to provide an image of the wildness and beauty of the area.

I live on the beautiful island of Crete in the Mediterranean. It is from the island's scenery, people, wildlife, history and culture that I get much inspiration. I am not only a professional artist but also an art tutor and demonstrator.I provide a workshop at Plaka (Apokorono) on most Sundays and visitors are welcome.
